Last night I led a short workshop on “Writing the Spiritual Journey” as part of the Cathedral Crossroads program at the Washington National Cathedral.
Cathedral Crossroads happens the last Tuesday of every month. You can come walk the labyrinth, attend a program (like “Writing the Spiritual Journey”) and then compline, the last service of the day. The programs are generally spiritual rather than formally religious, and walking the labyrinth can be all sorts of thing — a spiritual practice, a meditation, a way to have half an hour of quiet contemplation in the heart of the nation’s busy capital.
As I left the Cathedral last night I thought about ways you might continue to write your spiritual journey. Here are some books that might help:
- Writing the Sacred Journey: The Art and Practice of Spiritual Memoir
- Writing for Your Life: Discovering the Story of Your Life’s Journey
- A Pen And A Path: Writing As A Spiritual Practice
- Writing Down Your Soul: How to Activate and Listen to the Extraordinary Voice Within
Happy reading … and writing!
Tiffany was just asking about resources for this! I’ll point her towards your post. Now I’m off to write from my map since I didn’t get a chance last night.
